|World War two has to be the most famous war of all time. It was the largest, most tragic, horrifying of them all, and the first to have millions of people killed in the duration of it. Is it just me, or does it seem rather ironic that the very thing that was meant to solve the first World War is the most important of all of the causes of the second. And that the people who were supposed to fix the problems that that war caused were only really helping another along. The "war to end all wars" did not do that at all.|
The nation of Turkey is a paradox in the eyes of many who seek a clean break between the West and its associated values and culture and those of the rest of the world. Often considered an example held to demonstrate that Islam and Western Values are not incompatible, Turkey seems to straddle a fine line between being distinctly westernized while remaining rooted thoroughly in the culture and values of the Middle East. Turkey is one of two nations designated by as electoral democracies in the Middle East by Freedom House, along with Israel, yet the majority of the population is Muslim.

Marketing Image Culture As Alan Liu defines "cool", it is a nonpolitical protest in society, "a gesture of ambivalent oppositionality." In Liu's terms, "cool" is a cultural component of the information age, and can only exist and have meaning within the environment it protests. This essay seeks to explore the relationship image culture, marketing, and Alan Liu's concept of "cool." In a recent presentation he gave at New York University, Liu previewed his forthcoming book The Laws of Cool : The Cultural Life of Information, which describes the importance of "cool" in the information age.

The Owl and the SijГє The legend of "La lechuza y el sijГє" ("The Owl and the SijГє") is a popular and old Cuban legend. I collected this legend on March 17th, when I first talked to Denise Corte, my coworker at my campus job, about this particular class assignment. She is a Brazilian doctoral student whose thesis is based on a Cuban theater group. She traveled to Cuba to follow this theater group that primarily focuses their plays on Cuban legends. When she heard about my assignment she was enthusiastic, as her dissertation is based on the exploration of Cuban legends.
Grief in Hamlet According to Webster’s Desk Dictionary, grief is defined as “keen mental suffering over affection or loss” (397). Various characters in Hamlet choose to deal with grief in different ways, with many of their methods harmful in the end. Ophelia is dealt two setbacks during the course of the play, one being her father’s death and the other being Hamlet’s disrespectful treatment. Her brother Laertes must also deal with Polonius’s death, as well as Ophelia’s. From the beginning of the play, Hamlet grieves over his father’s murder.
As far back as I can remember I’ve been continually inspired by the natural world around me. As a child I was always finding things around the neighborhood and fashioning them in a proud display of what I can only guess to be a human innate connection with the land. When early in college I came across Andy Goldsworthy, I felt an immediate connection with his work. It wasn’t so much that I wanted to emulate what he was doing exactly. What he did for me was validate a way of working that was removed from the modern world and technology that I have long resisted.
She continues until the sight of a filthy, battered man stops her short. The two observe each other for an immeasurable period of time before the man crouched down low and pointed the blade of the knife towards her throat. Feeling the threat before her, Lovisa unthinkingly offers the only object of value she possesses to the murderer. But, in the act of hurriedly removing her ring, she had also dropped her handkerchief. Unwilling to forfeit her life to the murderer, she held the ring out to the man and attempts to drop it into his palm.
Harrison Bergeron Movie and Story Awakening the Zombies “Everybody was finally equal. They were not only equal before God and the law. They were equal every which way.
